How much can I make renting my dump trailer

By Published On: March 30, 2023

If you have a dump trailer that sits idle for any amount of time, you are sitting on a cash machine. These are one of the most popular items rented on CLINK. Below we will walk you through how you can start making money and how much you can make renting your dump trailer to others in your area.

Maintenance

Dump trailers come with a relatively reasonable price tag. Especially when you consider the amount of money you can make renting it out. Your ongoing maintenance with a dump trailer is also fairly straightforward. Tires, batteries, grease points, and cleaning are your four main things to watch. Tires will probably last you over a year or two. You will need to charge your battery every once in awhile. This may be something you have to do once a month, but for the most part it should be taken care of while it’s being hauled by the tow vehicle. Scheduling a monthly greasing of the axles and grease points and washing it to keep dirt and grim off will all prolong the life of a dump trailer.

Upfront cost

A 10′ to 16′ dump trailer will cost somewhere between $8,000 and $14,000 new. There are several makes out there and they all seem to have their pluses and minuses. It’s important to buy a well established manufacturer. Our recommendation is that you don’t need a bunch of bells and whistles–it’s a dump trailer. Make sure it has a sturdy hydraulic system, lifts and dumps.
