If you have a dump trailer that sits idle for any amount of time, you are sitting on a cash machine. These are one of the most popular items rented on CLINK. Below we will walk you through how you can start making money and how much you can make renting your dump trailer to others in your area.
Dump trailers come with a relatively reasonable price tag. Especially when you consider the amount of money you can make renting it out. Your ongoing maintenance with a dump trailer is also fairly straightforward. Tires, batteries, grease points, and cleaning are your four main things to watch. Tires will probably last you over a year or two. You will need to charge your battery every once in awhile. This may be something you have to do once a month, but for the most part it should be taken care of while it’s being hauled by the tow vehicle. Scheduling a monthly greasing of the axles and grease points and washing it to keep dirt and grim off will all prolong the life of a dump trailer.
A 10′ to 16′ dump trailer will cost somewhere between $8,000 and $14,000 new. There are several makes out there and they all seem to have their pluses and minuses. It’s important to buy a well established manufacturer. Our recommendation is that you don’t need a bunch of bells and whistles–it’s a dump trailer. Make sure it has a sturdy hydraulic system, lifts and dumps.
Suggested pricing on the app
Most of the dump trailers on CLINK average $130/day, $450/week and $875/month. As always it is up to the owner to select their rates. You determine what it’s worth to you to rent your items out. To the right is a screenshot of how pricing looks in the app. You’ll see the selected price on the left. CLINK earns 15% of the list price for a platform fee. There is also a transaction fee of 3.4%. On the far right you’ll notice your take home. You can and should adjust your day/week/month rates so that you end up with the desired take home.
The number in the middle is the Listing Price. This is the price that the renter will pay with the rental protection plan included. This is an additional 15% that we add to every rental. This covers damage and protection of the item while it’s on rental.
How much can I make?
There are several dump trailer owners that are making over $10,000/year on CLINK. These are typically owners that do not restrict their availability and accept every rental request.
The amount you make will be determined by two main factors:
Increase your availability and accepted rentals
Maintain a high quality trailer and a competitive price
